The United States needs to change its system of measurement to the metric system. The United States is one of the only countries still using the United States customary system, along with Liberia and Myanmar. The metric system simply makes more sense and will cause less discrepancies when translating our measurements to metric, because we would not have to translate them. Most students end up learning the metric system as well as the English system, and it seems as though the metric system is used more. There is the argument that we need to keep the tradition alive, however. But, when a more efficient way of doing things presents itself, traditions should not inhibit progression.
