This is only a proposition to have the first verse of "America the Beautiful" to be our national anthem. "America the Beautiful" is an original song written and composed by Americans. The "Star Spangled Banner" copies the melody of an old British drinking song, and some people believe it is stolen from Baltimore, we are not a nation of imitations! Furthermore, "America the Beautiful" is not controversial and does not promote war, it is not a war song. However, it reminds us of America's beauty and our duty to defend it, so it does serve its purpose of being a patriotic song. The only part of the song possibly controversial is "god shed his grace on thee", this can be easily remedied with "fate has shed its grace on thee". Lets get those signatures for an authentic National Anthem!
