In the current state of industry, innovation on an individual or small scale is hampered by the patent laws. Not limited to software patents, many products which aren't even sold by companies anymore are still patented to prevent people from learning and adapting design. These patents have a seriously detrimental effect upon the economy. Reforming the patent laws will allow for a renewal in American ingenuity and culture.
