Change policy so food dyes will be banned in the United States to protect consumers.

Created by A.H. on January 08, 2013

We ask that the administration urge the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ban food dyes in the United States to protect consumers.
“These synthetic chemicals do absolutely nothing to improve the nutritional quality or safety of foods, but trigger behavior problems in children and, possibly, cancer in anybody,”
- CSPI executive director Michael F. Jacobson. British lawmakers reacted to the findings of these studies and already forced companies to phase out the harmful dyes served in the UK. Color is used to attract consumers, and the good news is that synthetic, petroleum-based dyes are not irreplaceable. There are a lot of natural dyes that can be used to brighten food. for example, McDonald’s Strawberry Sundaes are colored with strawberries in Britain but with Red dye 40 in America.
