President Andrew Jackson is known across the United States as the president who passed the Indian Removal Act in 1830, and whose administration forced nearly 50,000 native American people out of their homes. This incident has come to be known as the Trail of Tears, killed many of those relocated, and stands out as one of the most horrific human rights violations in the history of the United States. A man who is associated with such an act should not hold the honor of being depicted on our currency.
Franklin Roosevelt, whose economic policy brought the country out of the Great Depression following World War I, is significantly more worthy of such a recognition.
