The idea is to stop the current sitting presisdent from campaigning for a second term and wasting time and taxpayer's money. When elected, the presisdent would serve only one 6 year term. Currently when a president is campaigning for a second term, he flies all over the country on fund raisers and asking for votes when he should be running the country.
