Too long have the spelling of latin root words in American English failed to conform with the plural conventions of hyperforeign latinate.
If we change the spelling of words ending in "is" to "ius" the plural of those words will be the simple suffix "ii". For example, take the word "Penis":
The new spelling will be "Penius" and the plural will be "Penii".
This simplification of spelling will free students from the tyranny of oppressive and arbitrary spelling conventions as they relate to plurals of Latin root words, thereby freeing their minds for the innovation and imagination necessary to propel this country into the 21st century!
