It is time that our representatives really represented who we are.
These men and women who have been elected by the people to represent the people should no longer be treated like they are ABOVE the people.
This petition moves that all elected officials of state and federal government should have their salaries reduced to the salary of the average American working class citizen. Any salaries that would be raised under this petition would remain the same. The salary should be amended every year when the average salary of citizens is calculated.
This petition would not only help the government be more closely connected to the people they are supposed to represent, but would also help pay back the budget deficit that is holding this country back.
