It is current practice in the United States to advance clocks one hour in observance of the start of Daylight Saving Time. While the benefits of Daylight Saving Time can be traced back to agricultural practices, it also poses many problems in our current society.
The Energy Policy Act of 2005 did a study on energy consumption to determine whether Daylight Saving Time should be moved from April to March. This petition proposes that a similar study should be undertaken to determine whether Sunday is in fact the most appropriate day to begin Daylight Saving Time.
This petition hereby proposes that the practice of moving clocks ahead by 1 hour begin on a Friday at 02:00 local time instead of on a Sunday.
