Change the status of Cannabis from a schedule I drug to a schedule III drug.

Created by R.W. on September 15, 2013

Whereas the Federal Government presently holds a patent for the use of cannabis. Whereas there is a medicine containing cannabis sanctioned by the FDA. It is hypocritical that cannabis should be classified as a schedule I drug. Whereas cannabis has a lower addiction rate than alcohol, tobacco or other commonly used substances.

We hereby petition the administration to change the classification of cannabis to a schedule III or lower drug. Rescheduling of cannabis would allow more study of the medicinal properties of cannabis as well as give protection to those states and their citizens that have enacted medical cannabis laws.
