Change tax and banking roadblocks for Americans who live and work abroad

Created by D.W. on April 08, 2015

Change federal tax and banking rules so that Americans are not penalized for living abroad.

Due to US government demands for account holder information, many foreign banks refuse to deal with local Americans. This restricts educational and business opportunities for thousands of Americans, and can make it very hard to live a normal life abroad.

US taxation of income earned and held abroad by people who don't live in the US makes it worse. A simple expat tax return can cost thousands to prepare, even when nothing is owed!

Some Americans have even decided the only solution is to renounce US citizenship.

We should find ways to relax tax and reporting demands on the activities of US Persons whose tax home is not the USA, and restore their freedom to live and work beyond our borders.
