As Ted Cruz becomes a leading candidate for the Republican presidential nomination, accuracy and fairness become increasingly important.
This petition is not pro-Cruz or anti-Cruz: it merely seeks to give the senator a name that better reflects his true self. We believe that simply changing the last letter of both his first and last names would be a boon for voters and elected officials alike, and minimally disrupt the candidate's personal life.
You might think that it is illegal to change a person's name without their knowledge or permission, but actually the Constitution has nothing to say about this subject, and thus we believe it falls within the powers of the serving President.
