change the telecommunication regulations to allow consumers to buy television channels on a per channel basis.

Created by B.B. on January 20, 2013

As options for entertainment and information become more widely available on media such as television and Internet, the control over these options remains tightly held by a handful of large media corporations. One outcome of the concentration of media ownership is that companies decide what consumers can buy and how: cable, satellite, and Internet providers require consumers to buy programming and services they do not want to buy in order to get the programming and services they really want. Consumers may be required by these media vendors to buy hundreds of channels of television programming to get the ten or twenty channels they want to see.
This petition seeks to require cable and satellite television media outlets to sell channels on a per channel or "a la carte" basis.
