Jon Stewart and the Daily Show, by highlighting petitions.whitehouse.gov, have brought valuable attention to this system that enables participatory democracy. Removing their petition is shortsighted and a mistake. Anything that brings people here, and gets them to start thinking about the issues, is a vehicle for creating engagement. I request that the Obama administration change the Terms of Participation for petitions so that Jon Stewart's petition can be signed.
