Since 1804, the current incarnation of the Electoral College has existed. Due to our country's growing population and the current attempted manipulation of electors in certain states that could unfairly turn the tide of an election and nullify some of the principles on which this country was founded, the Electoral College has become outdated. The election of the President and Vice President of the United States should rest solely on the Popular Vote unless, in the unlikely event a deadlock should occur. In this instance, and only this instance, should an Electoral College be used. Changes should be made to the Twelfth Amendment as soon as possible.
