The segment "under God" wasn't present in The Pledge of Allegiance until 1954 by a Joint Resolution of Congress amending § 4 of the Flag Code.
To promote a pluralistic society and show that this Nation does not favor toward one singular religious genre, it is fitting that this change take place.
