"In God We Trust" was adopted in 1956 as a replacement for the motto "E Pluribus Unum" (Out of many, one) that was created and adopted in 1792. The current motto promotes a theistic outlook at the expense of the people. Furthermore, it directly violates the Constitution of the United States (Establishment Clause of the First Amendment and the Separation of Church and State). Returning to the motto that embodies this nation's heritage is simple, free, and completely feasible.
