The US Department of Labor exempts Farmers from laws that require employers to pay there employees a federal minimum wage and overtime pay for hours worked in excess of 40 hours in a work week. I once took a job as a farm worker i worked 80 hours in one week. on payday i expected my check to be $724.80 as i expected i was being paid minimum wage $7.25 an hour plus over time because i worked double the 40 hour standard work week. i was paid $200.00 for 80 hours of dangerous back breaking labor. i confronted my boss and was told that he didn't have to pay me minimum wage i spoke with a lawyer who confirmed this. after doing the math i found that i was paid $2.50 an hour and there was nothing i could do about it. i ask pres Obama to change the law to ensure that farm workers are paid fairly
