Change the U.S. National Anthem to "Rocky Mountain Way" by Joe Walsh

Created by Z.H. on September 02, 2016

In light of the renewed controversy over Francis Scott Key's "Star-Spangled Banner," my organization Dystopian Dance Party strongly believes that the national anthem should be changed to "Rocky Mountain Way" by Joe Walsh. The reasons are simple. First, the song's boozy blues-rock represents an essentially American musical tradition, while the "Banner"--whose composer was English--does not. Second, it's much easier to sing. Third, it has a kick-ass riff and a sweet guitar solo. Fourth, and unlike Key, Joe Walsh does not nor has ever owned human beings as property, which makes him a much better representative of America's founding principles of democracy and freedom for all.
