In our “one person, one vote” system voters are encouraged to vote for the candidate that will beat the opponent, not the one best suited for the position. Forcing voters to choose one candidate supports polarization and discourages compromise and cooperation.This is why, even with widespread disapproval, the same two parties still run the government with the same types of politicians.
To end this, we petition congress to replace the election method currently used in congressional elections with 'approval voting,' which permits voting for multiple candidates, and elects the candidate receiving the most votes. This will stop the rampant spread of extremism and partisan aggression while encouraging a more diverse political dialogue.
