Too long has this been an issue that has not been addressed. Our elected representation "earns" on the federal level at least 7 or 8 times what its poorest constituent does, and at least twice what we consider middle class to be. This is a gross discrepancy. If our elected officials wish to truly represent the society that they care about so dearly, as their campaigns would have you believe, then they should represent the lowest member of that society not the highest member. Also this should have been the first measure in our recent fiscal debacle, not one that was barely mentioned. This would save the American people about a trillion dollars in the next 100 years, which sounds like small potatoes, but not when it comes directly from the pocket of the tax payer.
