Change the way arrest records are recorded and distributed. Allow citizens to move forward with their lives.

Created by D.B. on January 09, 2015

Potential employers, landlords, and creditors can all deny someone because of a criminal record. Here is what I propose. Arrests without convictions are not available to the public in any kind of way. Arrests with convictions are only available to the public for a set amount of time after the sentence has been completed. The exception being that sex offenders have to keep their records. The only people who should have any kind of access to records are judges so they can make sure those on trial aren't habitual and it should stay confidential with them. Any person or company who releases information that is supposed to be erased should be completely liable for any damages caused by it. Debts are erased from a credit history so why not criminal records? Please Mr. President make this happen.
