Changes to Social Security as part of the grand bargain

In that Social Security keeps 21 million people out of poverty, and in that 3 million seniors live on less than $22,000 per year, we request that either: 1. no changes be made to Social Security to balance the budget or 2. that changes be solely means based.
Consider that Social Security has not added to the deficit by virtue of its structure.
Consider that once this door is officially opened to use social security to strike a "grand bargain" it will make it that much easier to look to Social Security for fiscal reform in the short term, rather than long term fiscal planning which which exclude the need for such a step.
Furthermore, our young people need jobs, and any steps taken to discourage seniors from retiring at an appropriate age further compounds their difficulty.
