On January 13th, 2016, France allowed into their government a law that caused the practice of throwing away or destroying unsold foods illegal, ramping up donations to food drives, all in an effort to drop their massive number of nine tonnes of food wasted annually. However, the us manages to waste $165 Billion dollars of food yearly, whether it be at farms, at stores, or at homes. Although it would be unrealistic to follow in France's footsteps in fully outlawing food disposal, the United States should move for changing for the better, stopping the waste of millions of meals that could be going to the hungry or the poor.
