Dzhokar Tsarnaev is a naturalized American citizen and entitled to his Sixth Amendment rights to a fair and speedy trial. We ask that he be afforded these rights granted to him by the Constitution and that he not be labeled and held as an "enemy combatant."
The investigation and manhunt which ultimately lead to the capture of Mr. Tsarnaev is being held up as a shining example of the judicious use of police force. His trial should be afforded the same chance to be favorably recorded by history. Denying basic rights to any individual because it is convenient diminishes the Constitution and runs contrary to the values of which this country was founded.
