On December 9, 2016, the CIA has concluded that Russia intervened in the presidential election in order to help Donald Trump win. Previously, on October 7, 2016, the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence officially accused Russia of interfering with the election. On July 27, 2016, Trump incited Russia to hack or disclose previously hacked emails from Hillary Clinton's email servers. There has been debate whether Trump's statement is definitively treasonous or simply sarcasm. The intent of his statement is irrelevant given the outcome benefited him greatly and jeopardized our election process. It is imperative that Congress upholds the integrity of our election process by charging Trump with treason.
