In this case: Brian Williams furthered his career by airing special segments, appearing on talk shows, and writing op eds which propagated a false account of himself being in a helicopter that was shot down by a RPG; thus obtaining money from commercials via salary, furthered his brand/ image and receiving a celebration at a New York Rangers Hockey Game (that costs money from the venue to produce).
