President Obama should charter a National Electricity Council (NEC), similar in scope and form to the National Petroleum Council. The National Petroleum Council has been invaluable for over 70 years – now is the time to do the same for electricity. Our aging electricity distribution grid puts our nation at risk for terrorism. New innovative technologies exist today that can help protect our national resources. Gather forward thinking subject-matter experts into a council to formulate a plan to update and move our electrical distribution grid into the 21st century.
