Child care is a business expense. Make it deductible.

Created by E.F. on September 30, 2013

The cost of child care in many parts of the country drastically exceeds the $5,000 that may be deducted from a family's taxable income.

The result is that a family with a 25% tax rate paying $30,000 for chlid care (not uncommon at all for two children in densely populated areas) will pay $520.83/month in taxes on money earned simply to pay for child care.

This is wrong. It also as a chilling effect on parents' (particularly women's) decisions to remain in the workforce.

Help the economy and young families. Let Americans deduct reasonable child care expenses.
