Discussing gun laws will not change that fact that we live in a country saturated with firearms. Laws do not stop bullets.
As of now there are no public programs that offer ordinary Americans the opportunity to learn to defend themselves against armed shooters. Run, call the authorities, avoid danger; somewhere our leaders forgot: fear is not America's default.
Citizens can't always avoid danger. And what happens if we can't run? Or the police can't get to us? Multiple disciplines teach students what to do when there is only an instant to make life-or-death decisions. These skills are crucial.
I am calling for the dissemination of effective self-defense training against firearms in the interest of public safety. We need public access to non-lethal training that will EMPOWER the people.
