This petition is to help law enforcement to get the support they need from tenured leadership to make the right call to action, while safeguarding citizens from inappropriate lethal force.
This would make it vital for a Sgt. or ranking officer to be the sole decision in the use of lethal force on a suspect/detained citizen. It would make it mandatory for a ranking officer to be present at the scene of a crime where officers are drawing their weapons. They alone would be the officer aiming at the party while other officers have their firearms lowered.
It would also make field training mandatory along with annual recertification for when lethal force is necessary compared to always drawing a firearm. But also show the benefits of decapacitating with guns without life loss.
