Civil Unions for All. Eliminate the word Marriage from the civil vocabulary as it is primarily a religious rite.

Change the legal definition of marriage to civil union in all federal regulation including benefits, tax status, and any other area of government. Since the word "Marriage" has a primarily religious connotation, it should not be used by our government to denote the union of two people. Leave it to the churches, synagogues and mosques to decide who can marry under their rules and allow all consenting adults to receive equal civil unions from our government. To recognize a marriage is "legal" and a civil union as of less value is a violation of our First Amendment rights. Freedom of religion also means Freedom FROM religion for those who choose it.
