As a civilian employee for the Department of Defense, I am concerned about furloughs happening to cover down on the reductions that may happen. Many personnel rely on their paychecks to pay their bills and do not have any other source of funding. It seems like the civilian personnel who work for the government have already paid the price to help contribute to debt reduction. Understand that the government needs to down size, but the current early retirement incentives do not provide that capability. Based on analysis, if the government were to allow the following early retirement incentives the government could save over $8.8B in five years. Use the incentive of adding 5 years to their age, 5 years to their service comp date and $50.0K severance pay. This is based on 44,000
