Clarify the administration’s position on nuclear power.

Created by A.B. on July 03, 2013

According to the Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Energy, nuclear power has reliably and economically contributed almost 20% of electrical generation in the United States over the past two decades. It remains the single largest contributor of non-greenhouse-gas-emitting electric power generation in the United States. Recently, the administration has shifted its focus on strategies to reducing U.S. carbon emissions. It would seem necessary for the administration to support nuclear power as part of the climate change strategy.

This petition is for the Obama Administration clarify its position on the use or expansion of nuclear power. The position hasn’t been clearly articulated since the State of the Union Address of 2008. The topic was not covered during the 2012 election.
