Clarify that President Obama and the DOJ do not believe it is legal to target/spy on domestic U.S. civilians with drones

Created by L.W. on March 06, 2013

In a recent statement, Attorney General Holder said he believed the Federal Government had the legal right to utilize drone strikes against American civilians on American soil under an "extraordinary circumstance". Many have expressed concern that this is not meant to be a power of the Executive, and more importantly that it expressly violates the right to a jury trial and circumvents so called "due process". Signatories of this petition would ask the Administration to clarify that Mr. Holder was mistaken in his interpretation of policy, and to stress that they not only do not wish to use drones against American civilians, but that drone strikes on American civilians are not even a legal option. Americans suspected of terrorism deserve their day in court, just like everyone else.
