As of this date, volunteer fire fighters stuggle to get to the firehouse when reponding to a call in a amount of time that is golden to saving lives. Many people die each year due to late responce times, and it is ashame because these deaths are avoidable. As of now, Volunteer fire fighters are not allowed to use sirens on their vehicles. This should be reversed. This rule varies state to state, but it should be a federal issue due to the loss of life. It is proposed that all fire personel should be allowed to have a siren on their vehicle, and should be allowed to drive at a speed that is reasonable to respond to a call. It should also be allowed that firefighters reponding in their personal vehicles should be allowed to disregard stopsigns, or any other traffic device that slows them.
