I have seen many cats crippled in pain. Unable to use the litter box or sometimes unable to even walk. Removing the first digit causes permanent pain leading to many behavior issues including but not limited to urinating outside of the litter box, weight gain, biting, and even arthritis and infection. We need to step away from mutilation and more towards education and prevention.
