The Oil Industry has applied for and has proposals for 26 Natural Gas Exporting Port Facilities. There are 0 ports capable of exporting Natural Gas from the United States today.
According to the Dept. of Energy, we use approx. 17 TCF (Trillion Cubic Feet) of Natural Gas per year in the U.S. These new Facilities would be capable of exporting more than 15 TCF per Year.
There are many new uses for our Natural Gas reserves within our borders, including power generation, trucking & industry which are not included.
The Dept. of Energy estimates our reserves will last 100 years, but its' 'projected' use never rises above 24 TCF per Year.
Based on actual and proposed use the Energy Dept. projection is off 50%. If we export this resource, at what point do we have to repurchase it from a new OPEC?
