classify Sallie Mae and its subsidiaries as a criminal organization. Alternatively, cap interest rates to feasible ones.

Created by J.M. on November 13, 2014

Student loan lenders charge unreasonable interest rates to newly graduated students in an economy where a private bachelor's degree simply isn't the same guarantee of entry into the workforce as it once was. As a result, the bulk of income for new graduates goes back to organizations like Sallie Mae and Navient so their shareholders can make a profit. Especially given that many students initially apply for loans under their parents' credit score, graduates should be able to refinance easily and securely under their own credit score, should it be an improvement. Interest rates should be capped to a single digit number. Alternatively, designate these companies to be criminal organizations, and shut them down, forgiving all private student debt.
