Under the Controlled Substances Act, Schedule I drugs are those that meet the following criteria:
1) The drug or other substance has a high potential for abuse.
2) The drug or other substance has no currently accepted medical use in treatment in the United States.
3) There is a lack of accepted safety for use of the drug or other substance under medical supervision.
Cigarettes and other tobacco products unequivocally satisfy each of these three criteria, and still account for about 20% of the deaths in the United States.
Sign this petition and ask President Barack Obama to use the Controlled Substances Act for what it was meant to do; save lives.
