Classrooms to Safe Rooms

In an effort to minimize the potential loss of life during armed attacks against public schools, I hereby petition that all public school classrooms be modified so they can be made effectively "Safe Rooms" in a quick manner by school staff. If all classroom doors and windows can be quickly barred from the inside by school staff, prowling armed attackers could be securely locked out of all classrooms, similar to terrorists locked out of the pilot's cockpit of a public airplane. Additional features such as bullet-resistant tabletops and windows would be welcomed, budgets permitting. School staff should be trained to effectively use any such classroom defensive modifications. Every classroom could be a safe room.
