Close 10 military bases over the next 4 years, use the savings on domestic infrastructure.

Created by B.F. on February 26, 2013

The United States has hundreds of bases overseas, including many in allied or friendly countries. Surely, we could close at least a few of them. Closing some redundant bases alone is a cost-saving measure, but we can go further. Close a small number of military bases, use the soldiers at those bases to fill gaps at other bases, especially where a job is being done by a contractor that could just as effectively be done by a soldier. Any soldiers and administrators left over could be brought home and put to work improving our failing infrastructure- paving roads, shoring up failing land development projects, or modernizing our outdated power grid.
