Imagine living in a military prison for over 11 years without any charges brought against you and no hope of release in sight. Now imagine that this injustice isn't being perpetrated by a despotic regime, but by a nation that prides itself in principles of democracy and human rights.
Sadly, this situation is exactly what is happening at Guantanamo Bay. Over 160 men remain in Guantanamo even though they have never been charged with any crime.
America cannot claim any moral high ground while we trample the God-given human rights of Guantanamo detainees.
President Obama, please now deliver on your promise to close the Guantanamo Bay facility.
