Like Christmas Eve (December 24), New Year's Eve also falls on a Monday this year, between a weekend and federal holiday.
Respectfully ask that President Obama close the executive agencies of the federal government on Monday, December 31, 2012 so that all federal employees can have an extended holiday weekend and celebrate the new year with their family and friends without worrying about having to come back into town to work for one day.
Having December 31, 2012 off would also allow people who have birthdays on that day, like myself, to spend the day with our family and friends, who would otherwise have to work.
We urge President Obama to issue an executive order on this issue.
