Mr. President,
The human rights disaster of Guantanamo Bay detention camp is a moral burden not only to the American people, but to the world. Stories of the grossly inhumane treatment of detainees - like the one linked below - drain Americans’ confidence and respect for our military and our administration.
Mr. President, this must stop. You promised in 2008 to have this base closed. Of the 100+ detainees currently on a hunger strike, many have already been approved for release - some years ago. Yet the force feeding, physical, and emotional torture continue. Worst of all, not a single prisoner is on trial for any crime.
Gitmo must be closed.
