There are no visible pros to this argument. Only one out of every 172 prisoners receive a trial. Everyone is entitled in full equality to a fair and public hearing by an independent and impartial tribunal, in the determination of his rights and obligations and of any criminal charge against him.
This is also an indirect violation of the 8th amendment. While the "inmates" technically are not being "punished", there are basic human rights not being met, which makes America just as bad as China or North Korea.
