President Obama promised to close Guantanamo Bay Prison during his campaign. This prison, created by President Bush in 2002, is in violation of the Geneva Conventions, a place of torture, discrimination, and abuse, and reduces the United States' moral and ethical footing to dust. Only three detainees have ever been convicted of any crime. In fact, more than half of the detainees have been cleared for release, yet they are still imprisoned without the rights of a living human being. The current hunger strike should be the last wake-up call necessary for setting innocent human beings free.
