We the people demand that the Guantanamo Bay prison be closed immediately and that the prisoners there be charged with crimes and put on public trials, or released to their home countries.
The remaining prisoners in Guantanamo bay have been languishing in their dark cells for over a decade without being charged with crimes, and without trials by jury in which evidence of their guilt or innocence can be brought to the light of day. The treatment of these prisoners flies in the face of the 6th and 8th amendments to our constitution and poses a threat to the constitutional rights of all Americans.
It’s past time for president Obama to make good on his promise to close Guantanamo. It's time to stand up and prove that "justice for all" is more than just an empty catch phrase.
