It is heartbreaking that the U.S. Government does not abide by its own constitution and laws in handling prisoners at Guantanamo. If there is sufficient evidence to file charges and take a prisoner to trial, do so. The Constitution guarantees a speedy trial. If there is not sufficient evidence, these prisoners must be released. President Obama promised to close Guantanamo and has not done so. The Bush administration led the U.S. into 2 wars under false pretenses. It is time for us to do the honorable thing; protect human rights under our own Constitution and international law; and release or bring to trial every prisoner now held at Guantanamo.
In particular, review the case of Djamel-Ameziane, a young man against whom there is no evidence of wrongdoing.
