Today, Marketplace subsidies are available for individuals that make between 100% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). Medicaid eligibility is met in some states when an individual or family makes less than the FPL.
Unfortunately, not all states expanded Medicaid coverage to cover up to 100% of the Federal Poverty Level. This creates a Gap in coverage between those that are eligible for full coverage and Marketplace subsidies. The purpose of this petition is to close that gap in states that did not choose to expand Medicaid coverage. ID, UT, WY, NE, KS, OK, TX, MO, WI, TN, NC, SC, GA, FL, AL, MS, & ME chose not to expand coverage.
The federal government should penalize states that haven't expanded Medicaid coverage in order to encourage expansion.
